Castle Farms Winter Wedding Photography

Winter Weddings are amazing for SO many reasons. First of all, the snow blanket makes everything look beautiful. Typically there is some overcast which filters harsh light. The sun angle is lower causing naturally soft light too. Winter is the slow season for all Wedding vendors. In my mind, the beauty is equal to Summer Weddings. Missy and Bruce grew up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. They found Castle Farms by looking for a gorgeous venue somewhere between the U.P. and lower Michigan.

Missy and Bruce are not the typical Bride and Groom. They didn’t want getting ready images, not a ton of posed images, but nice images of them talking with friends and mingling. It was a candid photography type of day.

The colors for the day are ivory and navy with a Winter themed event.

The floral design by the team at Monarch Garden and Floral Design in Petoskey, Michigan was jaw-dropping! Everything fit perfectly with Missy’s vision of her day. The combination of white hydrangeas, white peonies, white roses, white ranunculus, white lisianthus, and white football mums is insane. Thank you to William and his team for making life easy on me for the day.

Brittany from Castle Farms did a very nice job handling all the questions and making sure the day ran smoothly.

Queen’s Tavern Wedding Ceremony

The Wedding ceremony is in the Queen’s Tavern with just immediate family. The 190 or so total guests would meet them for the party/reception afterwards.

Jonathan Mays from Charlevoix Wedding Pastor is the officiant for the day. He always does a wonderful job. Jonathan is also a very nice guy too.

Mackinaw Shuttle ran guests back and forth all night long. They have nice buses that are well-maintained.

West Garden Room Wedding Reception

Catering is by Vernales of Harbor Springs. They did an outstanding job with all of their offerings. The prime rib and house-made horseradish sauce is amazing! Vernales also took care of the bartending duties. Joe, the owner, is present and is also a very nice guy too.

Jessica from Simply Sweet by Jessica is the cake designer. Her four-tier cake is delicious and beautiful! Everyone enjoyed the cake and also the snowflake sugar cookies that were party favors.

The Main Street Dueling Pianos and Great Scott Band entertained and MCed for the evening. The guests all enjoy the variety of music that is being played throughout the evening. Joe is accepting all requests. Lots of energy and good times.

Paul Retherford Photography is the photographer for the day. Missy and Bruce also hired Paul Retherford Photography Photo Booth for that extra element of excitement. Guests are having a blast with the Photo Booth.
