Sunhorse Weddings Isla Mujeres Mexico Photography
Emily and Derek were such a pleasure to work with in Isla Mujeres, Mexico. They are a model couple, even though they have never modeled. They are both tall and beautiful. They came from Ottawa, Canada for their destination Wedding in Isla Mujeres, Mexico at the Zama Beach Club.
Isla Mujeres is a small island off of the coast of Cancun, Mexico. It is about a 15 minute cab ride from the Cancun airport to the ferry and then a 15 minute ferry ride to the island of Isla Mujeres, Mexico. There are many direct flights that go right into Cancun. We love Isla Mujeres because we can jump on a direct morning flight from Detroit and be at our resort in the early afternoon.
Isla Mujeres is extremely safe and you can walk around, taxi, and drive a golf cart anywhere on the island without feeling in danger. I have never been asked for anything other than to come into the stores and shop. There are a number of hotels to suit anyone’s needs. The food is wonderful too.
Typical Isla Mujeres winter weather is 80s and sunny. 2013-2014 was a very rainy year. The locals were telling me that they had never seen this much rain. When it would rain the streets would flood.
Emily and Derek’s Wedding day it was raining the entire morning and into the early afternoon. Not a hard rain, just a soft, enough to get you wet rain.
Emily got ready at the Privilege Aluxes Resort where they were staying starting early in the morning. I met with her in the early afternoon to begin the Wedding day shoot.
Emily really wanted the outdoor Wedding ceremony on the ocean and made sure to let Sunhorse Weddings Planning know her feelings. She didn’t care if she stood in the rain to get married.
Even though it was raining on and off, the light was beautiful. Way more beautiful then if we had a bright blue sky.
The Wedding ceremony was right on the ocean with the waves crashing the shoreline, the gorgeous setup by Sunhorse Weddings including the aisle lines torches and cloth draped arch, the cool signs, and the beach and destination wedding accents. Isla Mujeres and Zama Beach Club are a wonderful and convenient Wedding venue location.
The Wedding reception was under the large thatch hut with dancing and a delicious dinner of lobster and tenderloin.
Details included the cigar bar with cuban cigars, the sparkler bar, japanese lantern release, cool luggage name tags as wedding favors, roses under glasses, beautiful wedding cake by Nubia Magana, and great music by DJ David.
Kudos to the Sunhorse Weddings team for putting this beautiful event together and staying on their toes to make the ceremony happen outdoors during the off and on rains.
