Mackinac Island Wedding Grand Hotel
In Northern Michigan you can take a ferry across the Straits of Mackinac to the small island of Mackinac Island. When you arrive on Mackinac Island you will find a peaceful and fun atmosphere filled with lots of activities. Horse carriages stroll by carrying passengers for hire and private owners. People are walking and riding their bikes to find secret coves and nooks all around Mackinac Island. Mackinac Island has a large elevation change so you can find great hiking and biking trails where you might be the only one enjoying them. Some people love to stay right on Main Street and Mission Street shopping and enjoying the wonderful food created by educated Chefs. Mackinac Island also hosts a bunch of festivals, foot races, competitions, and more.
The first thing that you notice when coming to Mackinac Island is the size of the Grand Hotel. Not only can you see it from the mainland, but the more you know about the Grand Hotel the larger it becomes. The Grand Hotel is a full service hotel on Mackinac Island which caters to all walks of life. The Grand Hotel hosts intimate to large events including Weddings. The porch on the Grand Hotel used to be the largest porch in the World! You can sit on the Grand Hotel porch all day long and feel the soft breeze hit your face while the wait staff takes your orders.
Everything about the Grand Hotel sounded perfect to Penelope and Steve for their destination Wedding location.
They chose a rehearsal dinner location of the Gate House, a Grand Hotel restaurant. At the rehearsal, Penelope surprised Steve with a Red Wings Octopus cake. It was really cool and Steve loved it. The food is great at the Gate House and you can have a nice private back outdoor area for your event too.

The Wedding Ceremony was on the Grand Hotel front porch on the west end closest to the Mackinac Bridge. The sun was beaming on in and the day was bright blue and beautiful. Penelope, the bride, walked down the isle with her father from Greece. The Grand Hotel front porch makes a very unique Wedding isle where people line up to watch the beautiful bride walk down. There were even people standing on their balconies over the Grand Hotel porch watching the Wedding. It is a very cool experience.
Following the Wedding we captured family images and then everyone was off to a cocktail hour while the bride and groom jumped in the horse drawn Wedding carriage, and I on my bike with my photography gear. We captured images around the island and it was a perfect day.
The Wedding Reception took place in the Grand Pavilion room. This room is great for medium sized Weddings. It has a nice deck overlooking the golf course and the Grand hill.
